Self Portrait 2018

“Self portrait 2018” was created during my junior year of college: an expression of the juxtaposition felt between my creative side and the analytical area of study I chose to pursue: Physics. The use of color within the body represents all of my artistry trapped inside as, at the time, I did not have the time to cultivate its ultimate potential. The black and white background symbolizes the scientific thinking of logic and precision I felt forced to use on a daily basis. The artist and the physicist-one speaks in colors and brushtrokes, the other in equations and constants.

I have come to understand that these two worlds, seemingly at odds, are deeply intertwined. The juxtaposition, initially thought of as a contradiction, I now see as a harmony-where reason meets intuition.One captures the intangible essence of emotion while the other dissects the fabric of reality. And yet both seek the same thing: truth. Physics defines the universe; art gives it meaning. I’ve come to understand myself as both observer and creator, caught between the rigid laws of nature and the boundless realm of imagination.
